March was so warm we all thought it was April however April has been really cool. The last week most morning show a light frost on the grass.  If you are like me those warm days made me want tp dig in the dirt.  My garden is plowed, with the fence posts ready to go up to keep the deer out. My plants however are traveling in to the garage at night & dragged back out in the morning.

February blossoms

My good friend & neighbor showed me flowers that bloom in the snow here in Ohio in January & February. I planted the starts in several locations & now am enjoying blossoms in the cold weather! They multiply too.  How exciting to see flowers in the snow.

Ground Hogs Day

So..... that little furry rodent is about to forecast how much more winter we have to endure.  I just read some statistics that say he is only right 29% of the time.  Not great odds for him to receive such acclaim. Personally I don't like groundhogs because they make a mess of the landscape when they move in. In the woods they cause my horse to shy or even trip in their holes. They take over abandoned barns especially ones where their is an absence of cats domestic or feral. My Golden likes to chase them & once was in a face to face battle with a very rotund fellow.  I had to get a pitchfork & intervene to separate them.  Fearing the groundhog got the worst of it, I went back to see a few minutes later but he was gone!  My dog had a lot of small cuts on her face & paw so we were off to the vet for antibiotics.
Remember the movie a few years back? Or maybe you would like to forget it!  I'm sure you will be able to catch it on those movie channels this week.
Groundhogs Day is sure sign of spring coming just like all of those new realtor signs that are popping up.  Get your home listed! Get out there & look if you are buying!  Lots of great homes are waiting for you.

I know it is only January & we haven't had a big snow yet however so many new listings are on the MLS it is hard to keep up.  I check it daily for my clients who are looking for just that right home in their preferred ara to pop up.  This is the start of our market bouncing back!

Indian Summer

It is Indian Summer for a few days in Ohio.  The color is still on the trees & the buring bushes.  I know a place in Union County where there are over 200 burning bushes in full color that you can drive past & photo to your hearts content.

What Professions Do You Think are Hit in this Market?

I was speaking to a client who is a dentist today.  He said the dental profession has also been hit by the recession. It took longer to get to them than retail but now they are feeling a slowing of appointments.  Patients are shopping for lower cost dental care ignoring the quality of the doctors & staff.  I was amazed that people would put off procedures that alleviate pain!  Root canals abscessed teeth or broken crowns are very painful & need immediate attention. Many years ago I was a chairside dental assistant.
Well, in retrospect I think it is like ignoring a foundation problem or  a leaking roof in your home. Down the road even more problems come up with deferred maintenance.  We all need to inspect our homes regularly to be sure we aren't ignoring future problems.
